Ashland Medical Group offers services in Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Critical Care Medicine.
Pulmonary medicine is the discipline of medicine that treats patients who suffer from diseases of the chest and lungs. We diagnose and treat the following conditions in pulmonary medicine:
- Lung cancer.
- Emphysema and COPD.
- Asthma.
- Black lung.
- Asbestosis.
- Pulmonary fibrosis (scarring).
- Sarcoidosis.
- Pulmonary hypertension.
- Pneumonia.
- Bronchitis.
- Other pulmonary infections such as tuberculosis.
- Low Oxygen (hypoxia).
- Chronic respiratory failure.
- Shortness of air and difficulty breathing.
- Wheezing.
- Pulmonary embolism (blood clots).
- Snoring and sleep apnea.
- In addition to the above we treat many other lung conditions that are too many to list on this site.
In addition to the above, we perform all the diagnostic testing in lung disease. This includes bronchoscopy with lung biopsy and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. We also perform pulmonary function testing in our office or at any of the two hospitals in the Ashland area.
Sleep Medicine is the discipline of medicine that treats patients with sleep disorders. We diagnose and treat the following sleep conditions:
- Obstructive sleep apnea.
- Central sleep apnea.
- Periodic breathing disorders.
- Insomnia.
- Narcolepsy.
- Sleepiness.
- Snoring.
- Nocturnal seizures.
- REM behavior disorders such as sleep walking and sleep talking, etc.
- Night terrors.
Dr. Khoudoud is the only board certified sleep physician in the Ashland area. Dr. Khoudoud is the medical director of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Sleep Center. Dr. Khoudoud is also the medical director of St. Claire's Regional Medical Center' sleep lab. Both labs at both hospitals are certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Critical Care Medicine is obviously delivered in an intensive care unit setting. Critical Care Medicine treats patients that generally have life threatening conditions requiring intensive care unit monitoring. Ashland Medical Group's Physicians practice Critical Care medicine at King's Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. In addition to the above hospitals, Dr. Khoudoud also practices critical care medicine at St. Clair Regional Medical Center's intensive care unit.
